LOW INCOME HOME WATER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHWAP)

PROGRAM DATES:        October 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024
 
ELIGIBILITY:   
 

1. Must be below 175% of the federal income guidelines for 30 days or 12-months
2. Must complete application for assistance via phone interview with HEAP Intake Specialist;
3. Must have current water and/or sewer bill(s) in household member’s name.
4. Can only receive services ONCE during the above period.
5. Must be a resident of Portage County and have a water bill in the name of an adult member of the household.

 
BENEFITS AVAILABLE:
 

1. One-time assistance on water bill up to $750.00 per service.
2. One-time assistance on sewer bill up to $750.00 per service.
3. One-time assistance on combination water and sewer bill up to $1500.00 per service.

 
APPLICATION PROCESS:
 

1. Must contact the agency to schedule an appointment for service at 1036 W. Main Ravenna through the automated appointment line, 234-703-4303, or https://app.capappointments.com

 (24 hour voice response scheduling).   Will only schedule up to three (3) weeks in advance.

1. May “call-in” for same day phone appointment at the main office on MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY MORNINGS starting at 8:00 am until all available appointments are filled.
2. Must complete an application, provide proof of income for all household members over 18, provide a copy of most recent water and/or sewer bill(s), and provide proof of citizenship, social security numbers and birth dates for all household members, applicant must also provide a picture I.D.
