Regular HEAP Applications Available The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), administered locally by the Community Action Council of Portage County (CAC), is designed to assist low income households in meeting the rising costs of home heating. Applications for Regular HEAP, which is a one-time credit on a residents heating bill, are still available for the 2015-16 program year through June 30th. The 2016-17 program year will start on July 1st. Customers can visit CAC offices at 1036 W. Main Street in Ravenna any Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30pm to pick up an application. There are 3 ways to apply for HEAP: 1. Fill out and mail application along with documentation to:Office of Community Assistance Home Energy Assistance Program P.O. Box 1240 Columbus, Ohio 43216 2. Make an appointment by calling 330-297-1456 ext 0 3. Come to our agency during a walk-in time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8am (We see the first 10 households). Households must bring 90 days proof of income for all household members who are 18 years and older, current utility bills, and social security numbers for all household members. Current PIPP+ customers are also cautioned to be aware of when re-verification is required for your household. Households must re-verify income annually in order to remain on the program. Households are required to re-verify every 12 months and/or any time the household income changes. The state and utility companies will be sending out letters to many PIPP+ customers reminding them to re-verify. Failure to re-verify by your annual due date will cause any back balance on your account to become due immediately and may result in a disconnection of service. Due to the limited resources in the Portage County area, we advise everyone to pay attention to your PIPP+ Re-verification due date and make an appointment as soon as you receive notice of your renewal date. We can complete PIPP+ re-verifications and new enrollments at the CAC main offices located at 1036 W. Main Street in Ravenna. Please call us at 330-297-1456 to schedule an appointment or attend one of our weekly walk-in times. Applications are also available online at our website at www.cacportage.net/heap or by calling the Ohio Development Services Agency at their toll free number 1-800-282-0880. |
