Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) applications are still available through Community Action Council of Portage County (CAC). The regular HEAP program is a one time credit on income eligible households’ heating bill, and is not designed to help with disconnect notices. Applications for this year’s program can be processed through June 30th.
To apply residents must have an appointment, or come to one of our walk-ins, bring 90 days proof of income for anyone in the home who is 18 years of age or older, provide current utility bills, know all household member’s social security numbers, and meet income guidelines. Walk-ins are Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 to 11 am, and the first 8 client’s will be seen. CAC also cautions current Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP+) customers that you must re-verify every 12 months, or when the household income changes in any way. PIPP+ customers also must have an appointment, or use one of our walk-in times. Customers can call CAC at 330-297-1456 Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, and press 0 for the receptionist to make an appointment, or for more information.
