Community Action Council Assistance Avaiable Eligible Families May Qualify for a Utility Credit9/29/2016
As we get ready for another heating season, the Community Action Council of Portage County (CAC) wants to remind Portage County residents that we are still accepting applications for the 2016-17 Regular Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Regular HEAP is a federally funded program designed to help income eligible Ohioans with their winter heating bills by offering a one-time credit to the heating bill for eligible households. Regular HEAP runs from July 1st through June 30th annually. To be eligible, you must complete an application, be below 175% of the poverty level, and provide utility bills, proof of income, and proof of citizenship. Applications may be obtained at CAC, many local libraries or on-line @ energyhelp.ohio.gov. or the CAC website @ www.cacportage.net. You may submit your applications directly to the State of Ohio or CAC can mail them for you. Portage County residents can also apply for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP+) program year round. PIPP+ helps income eligible households manage their energy bills year by allowing them to pay bills based on a percentage of their income each month. Eligible households must have a total household income which is at or below 150% of the federal poverty level, and apply for all available energy assistance programs. Applications are available at CAC. Current PIPP+ customers are also reminded that re-verification is required every 12 months or whenever the household income changes. Under both programs, a variable credit will be directly applied to your utility bill by the State of Ohio. For more information, or to have an application mailed to you, call CAC at 330-297-1456 and press 267 for the receptionist. CAC is located at 1036 West Main in Ravenna. Comments are closed.
